Speaking of music, I’m working with RTP on a musical version of Shakespeare’s Gentlemen of Verona. It’s reimagined for the 1950’s so we’re playing a lot of old covers as segues between scenes. The rehearsals have been fun but I can sense drifting in the band. Not really a power struggle or that some people aren’t pulling their weight. More like we are headed in different directions.
I know I’ve been thinking we might be better off doing our own thing. I’m also starting to think I’d be a lot happier too. Maybe it’s the standard musical pattern of getting sick of what I’m currently doing and wanting to make a sharp left turn. For a while, I’m all into Jazz for six months. Then, I wanted to focus on acoustic fingerstyle. Three months after that, I’m looking for a southern rock band to join. I have other projects too but I find myself wanting to devote more and more energy into those avenues instead of RTP. I suppose it will pass once we start working on our music again.
We’re going into a local recording studio Moon Unit Sound Labs to do some drum tracks and I know that’ll be a fun invigorating experience. I can’t wait to see what an engineer who’s been recording for a lot of years does in his normal routine. Oh well. I gotta get back to writing copy for the NSN website. It’s looking pretty bare these days. Until next time, this is miles signing off.
